Repair & Computer Theory

After repairing hundreds of computers, I understand:

  • what is frustrating and confusing
  • which are the best programs and why
  • what causes computers to slow down over time
  • how to protect computers aginst the malicious bugs around the web
  • …what all this techno-mumbo-jumbo is

But most importantly, I understand that it isn’t always necessary to purchase a new computer when the computer you already have may just need an overhauland a little upgrade to make it like new, or better.

FACT: Computers slow down over time.

Before the 1980’s and 1990’s, it was more popular for car owners to repair the car they owned instead of purchasing a new one, because it cost much less. The owner would take their car to a mechanic who would overhaul the engine and replace the parts that wear out over time.

Wikipedia defines a car engine overhaul as:

An engine overhaul means putting the engine back to factory specifications. This generally involves new piston rings, bearings and gaskets. When done by a competent engine builder the engine will perform as new.

And that’s basically what I do for your computer, but I make it run better than new.

The Computer Overhaul

Just like overhauling an engine, repairing a computer the best way possible is a multi-step process.

The first step is backing up your data–all your documents, music, photos, bookmarks, etc. It is scanned for viruses and stored for later.

Step two is reinstalling the operating system (Windows) and your programs. This is like rebuilding an engine with new piston rings, bearings and gaskets. The piston rings, bearings and gaskets of your computer are the crucial system files, user settings files, and all the bits and pieces that make the operating system and programs work.

The last step is restoring all of your data back to where it belongs.
All of your data will be put back on your computer and I’ll assist in the organization of all your files.

Additionally, I may also recommend increasing the amount of memory (RAM) your computer has. This is the cheapest, best way to ensure you’ll be absolutely satisfied after receiving back your overhauled computer. More memory is like a boost of nitrus oxide, giving your computer that extra pep that makes it that much more enjoyable. I generally don’t recommend less than 1GB of memory.

Sales

I can help you build or buy the computer that best suits you, or the computer of your dreams.

I love building computers. It usually cheaper to build a computer that is just as fast as a new, big-brand computer.

I also love helping people find the perfect notebook, netbook, desktop, or media PC for as inexpensive as possible. Having a little extra power is important, but you don’t always need the biggest, baddest computer unless you’re editing video or playing the latest video games.

Lessons

I love to empower people by making technology simple.

I love teaching people. One of my biggest satisfactions is showing people how to use their computer to do what they enjoy. I want to empower people to do what they always wanted to or thought they couldn’t.

Let’s get started…
